Phoenix Martinez Obituary (1993 - 2020)

Phoenix Vaughn Martinez, 26, Cannon Ball, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Youth Activity Center, Cannon Ball, with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Cannon Ball. Phoenix was born December 6, 1993, at Bismarck, ND, to Richard and Kim (Redbow) Martinez. He was raised and educated in Cannon Ball, North Dakota and Solen High School. Over the years he worked several jobs around the Bismarck, Mandan areas. He liked doing anything, as long as it was outdoors. He loved spending time with friends and family but, especially his daughter, Karen Joy Martinez. Since he was 5 years old, he was raised by his grandma, Karen Wise Spirit, whom he called mom. Phoenix, despite his own troubles, he was always quick to drop everything and help out. He is survived by his parents, Kim Redbow, and Richard Martinez; daughter, Karen Joy Martinez; sisters, Stevie Redbow, Cannon Ball, ND, and Brooke Martinez, Fort Yates, ND; brothers, Martin Martinez, Robert Martinez, and Dylan Redbow, all of Cannon Ball, ND; Uncle Sherman (Marcy) Standing Bear; Aunt Deborah (Dewey) Plenty Chief; numerous, cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives. Phoenix was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Redbow, Karen Wise Spirit, Margaret Correa, and Lenhart Silk Sr.; great-grandma Lillian Martinez; and too many relatives to mention.
