Matthew Fox-Cohenotti Obituary (1977 - 2015)

Matthew Fox-Cohenotti, 37, Fort Yates, North Dakota, died, Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at his home. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 noon, Friday, July 10, 2015, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan, North Dakota. Burial will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery at Red Hail's Camp, Breien, North Dakota. Matthew was born November 21, 1977, at Denver, Colorado, to Odette Fox, the oldest of ten children. He was raised and educated in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fate brought Matt to Fort Yates in 2010, where he met and fell in love with Cherie. They were married on November 18, 2011, and began their life together as a family. Matthew was a proud husband and a great father, to his children. They spent time bonding over many things, such as playing video games, working out, fishing, and so much more. A unique individual, Matt also had hobbies that were more creative in nature, such as writing poems, drawing, and restoring and adding his own unique stamp on his car. When Matt and Cherie became parents again on November 2, 2013 to their little angel Gianni, their lives were forever altered. Baby Gianni was loved and cherished to the fullest. He journeyed back to heaven, a sweet guardian angel, on December 23, 2013. Father and son are reunited and now our family has two guardian angels to watch over and protect us. Matt is survived by his wife, Cherie; daughter, Alexis; sons, Na-Ja, "Chief", Itancan, "Tonch"; special adopted mother, Patty Gayton; three sisters, Rabiatu (Shawn) Alowonle-Lewis, Battonrouge, LA, Joenessa (Ryun) Bowker, Eagle Butte, SD, Summer Beheler, Fort Yates, ND; four brothers, Kabiru Alowonle, Ashimiuy Alowonle, both of Minneapolis, MN, Dominic Swift Horse, Fort Yates, ND, Cortez Swift Horse, Cannon Ball, ND; several nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Odette Fox-Swift Horse; son, Gianni; sister, Raolatu Alowonle; brother, Tubate Fox; uncle, Julian Fox; and grandparents, Keith and Laura Fox.
