Francine Founounou Obituary (1961 - 2012)

Philomen "Francine" Dogskin-Founounou, 51, Fort Yates, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 27, 2012, in the Youth Activity Center, Cannon Ball, North Dakota with Rev. Antoine American Horse officiating. Burial will be in Big Lake Cemetery, Cannon Ball. A Wake Service begins at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, September 26, 2012, also in the Youth Activity Center. Francine was born June 2, 1961, at Fort Yates, to Benedict Dogskin and Annie Black Cloud. Frances Tikanye Sr. was her biological father. She was raised and educated in North Dakota and Pennsylvania in foster care by Wilmer and Viola Long. She graduated from United High School, Armagh, Pennsylvania. Francine was well traveled and visited 39 states and seven countries before the age of ten. She lived the majority of her life in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and South Carolina. She was always on the go. She loved singing, reading, especially the Bible, beadwork, and spending time with friends. Francine was always helping family and friends in need. She loved playing cards, and spending time with her brother Shaw. She always made time for family, visiting her sisters, Bernie, Stella, and Betty in Pennsylvania, and Marie and her brother George from McLaughlin, South Dakota. She is survived by her uncles, Randolph Lambert and George "Duke" Fool Bear Sr., aunts, Sharon Georgenson, Kay and Alberta Red Fox, and Hilda Garcia from Tokio, North Dakota; brothers, Albert "Shaw" Dogskin, George Cloud, Raymond Mallard, Frances "Poncho" Tikanye Jr., Duane Tikanye, Maynard "Jumbo" Tikanye, and Randy Tikanye; sisters, Corrine Stretches, Beverly Tikanye, Yvonne Georgeson, and Delphine Tikanye; cousins, Jesse, Jeanette, Ella, and Clarice, Black Cloud, Patricia Harmon, Marie Cloud, Stacey Dogskin, Gerard Fool Bear, George Fool Bear Jr.; nieces, Crystal Roberts, Tannis Dogskin; nephews, Shawn, Shannon, Shane, Shaw, Sheldon, and Trampis Dogsin; and many more nieces, nephews, relatives too numerous to list. Francine was preceded in death by her fathers, Benedict Dogskin and Frances Tikanye Sr., mother, Annie Black Cloud; grandmother, Sarah Black Cloud; sisters, Bernadine (Dogskin) Atkins, Stella Rose Long, Betty Lou Dogskin McCall, Bernadine Tikanye; brothers, Jonathan, Emery, and Thomas Tikanye; aunts, Mary Rose Fool Bear and Emma Lambert; and other relatives too numerous to mention.
