Erwin Dockter Obituary (1929 - 2020)

Reverend Erwin E. Dockter, 90, Mandan North Dakota, passed away January 2, 2020, at a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Cornerstone Community Church with Rev. Dr. Keith Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in Iota Flats Church of God Cemetery, rural Benedict, North Dakota. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Erwin was born November 29, 1929, son of August and Marie (Morlang) Dockter. He was raised and educated near Drake, North Dakota. On October 14, 1951, he married Linda Bohlender in the Church of God at Benedict, North Dakota. Throughout his life he worked as a farmer, meat cutter, mechanic and numerous other jobs, but his passion was God's Ministry. He pastored churches in Minot, Erwood, Saskatchewan, Owen Sound, Ontario, and Vernon, British Columbia in a career over 50 years long. After he officially retired, he continued to serve in an active lay ministry in Mocoun, Midale, and Estevan. He had a great interest in people and took joy in many coffee meetings with friends and potlucks. He kept in contact with loved ones all over the continent and would regularly update you, so you could stay connected. He firmly believed if he wasn't fifteen minutes early, he was late, and made sure to emphasize that to his children. He is survived by his son, Wes (Verla); daughters, Sharon (John) Yarbrough, and JoLynn Dockter; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert and Clifford; four sisters, Delores, Marge, Betty, and Marion; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Erwin was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Theresa; siblings, Alma, Clarence, Ralph, Roy, Rueben and Willie. His room was ready and so he moved to heaven on January 2, 2020, we suspect, Theresa had flowers there waiting.
