Obituary for Theodore Raymond Lippert

Theodore Raymond Lippert, 88, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at Sanford Health Bismarck, with his family by his side. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 11, 2017, at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with Rev. Terry Wipf officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Ted was born May 2, 1929, in New Leipzig, North Dakota, to Gottlieb and Ida (Dietz) Lippert. He grew up on the family farm and attended Loren Township School. When he was 18, he spent a winter working for Boeing in Seattle, Washington. He returned to North Dakota and worked on the family farm until he was 25 years old. Ted enlisted into the Air Force and was stationed in Samuel Air Force Base, New York, then onto Chanute Air Force Base in Chicago, where he went to school to be an Air Force mechanic. Upon completion, he was stationed in Japan for two years. He received the National Defense Medal. While in Japan, he received notice that his father took ill, and he had to take a hardship discharge. He took over the family farm until he retired. He moved to Bismarck, where he worked at Eddy Small Engine Repair.

Ted was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Amvets, and was a life-time member of the NRA and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved working on anything that had a motor and any type of electronics. He also enjoyed going down to his son’s ranch to help him, and spending time with two playful dogs, Lefty and Poncho. Ted loved spending time with his grandchildren, riding bike all over Bismarck–even at the age of 88 he was still riding bike. He took a couple of trips with his daughter and her family to Glacier State Park and Itasca State Park. Ted took several trips to Texas to see his uncle Ted, to Arizona to see Uncle Jake, California to see Aunt Ella, Washington to see Uncle Ben, and then to see Brother Delbert in Pierre. He loved attending dances and family outings. At the age of 70, he decided to buy a motorcycle, and traveled several places. Ted was blessed with a very special friend, Tillie, who was his life partner for 20 years. Tillie and Ted took care of each other.

He is survived by his partner, Tillie Emineth, Bismarck; three daughters, Shari (Rodney) Pettys, Jamestown, Cynthia Dutke, Bismarck, and Sarah (Alan) Mayer, New Salem; one son, Tim Lippert, St. Anthony; one sister, Sandi (Bruce) Fuchs, Bismarck; one brother, Delbert Lippert, Pierre, South Dakota; seven grandchildren, Shane (Rachel), Angela, Quentin Pettys, London and Gracie Lippert, and Tiffany and Tanner Dutke; three great-grandchildren, McKenna, Kayden, and Norah Pettys; and two nieces, Jolene Nelson and Jessica Fuchs.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester Lippert; and infant grandson.
