Obituary for Dominique Shantae Murphy

Dominique Shantae Murphy, 31, Mandan, North Dakota, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 6, 2018, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Fort Yates, North Dakota, with Fr. John Paul Gardner officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service with a Rosary service at 10:00 AM, at the church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fort Yates.

Dominique Shantae Murphy was born on a leap year, March 1, 1986, to Louise Murphy and Telester Townsend in Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan. Dominique attended grade school at St. Bernard Mission School in Fort Yates, then attended Standing Rock High School, before moving to Dickinson, North Dakota, and graduating from Dickinson High School in 2002. Dominique was a vibrant woman, full of life and love for her family and friends. She brightened the room with her beautiful smile and her laugh brought warmth and delight to all who heard it. Dominique was a beautiful swan who touched the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her. She flew through the sky, that is this life on Earth, with elegance and perseverance. Through turbulent skies and rough mountain peaks, through the twinkling stars of night and the rising and setting sun, she flew. Though her journey on Earth has ended, she still flies, but only now she flies with her Heavenly Father; a beautiful swan’s wings merely transformed into the wings of angel who will forever watch over her children, her family, and those whom she loved, and those who loved her so dearly.

Dominique is survived by her mother, Louise Krueger, and stepfather, Faron Krueger, North Dakota; her father, Telester Townsend, and stepmother, Margot Townsend, New Jersey; her two children, Dhyanna and Dontae; three sisters, Candace Townsend, Nikki (Pat) Poitra, Ellisha Henderson; three brothers, Kipp, Dustin Krueger, and Bobbie Henderson; numerous nieces, nephews and special friend, Billy Ray Crawford.

She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; and sister, Kami Montclair.
